Oz Poster-CARP

Contrast~ This poster uses contrast in a variety of ways. For the title, "The Wizard of Oz", i used contrast on the words Wizard and Oz. I used a different font, font size, color, and i also added a glow to make the words stand out more.

Alignment~ For the title i used a centered alignment, although for the information i had them align to opposing sides. I chose to do this because i feel it gives a more full and even affect.

Repetition~ I used the same font for the extra information, and with the groups i kept the same font size. I also used the repeated line theme, which i feel like also helps grouping.

Proximity~ For grouping i used similar font sizes. I also used lines and boxes to separate different ideas.

Typefaces

Through this project I have learned quite a lot about typefaces. For this project we were assigned to follow an instructional video and create this name plate, labeling parts of the typefaces. It was somewhat confusing because I wasn't sure if some of the things were applicable to different letters, or lowercase, or even depended on the font. For example, the diagonal stroke was shown on an uppercase A, and I used it on a lowercase z and I wasn't sure what the exact standards were.

If I had to do this project again I think I would spend more time picking out a font. I would also spend a little more time with colors and just the over all neatness of this project. One thing I found difficult was my name. I don't have ay letters that hang below the base line, so quite a few of the terms were not usable for my name. Overall I really enjoyed this project and am looking forward to going further in depth about typefaces!

Color Wheel

For this project, we were assigned to create our very own color wheel using adobe illustrator. For me personally, this was quite easy and I finished this project decently early. A lot of the tools were easy to assume, having worked lots of photoshop. although one thing I found interesting was how the work space isn't necessarily a background like it is in photoshop. If I were to do this assignment again I would most likely spend a bit more time prestigiously picking my colors and making it as seamless as possible. I am very excited to see what else we get to do in graphic design, because so far I really love it!

Color Schemes of Logos

analogous

This logo is analogous because it uses a darker brown on top of a more tan color, and I think that they chose this logo because it makes you think of a box that a package ups would deliver to you.
complementary

This logo is analogous because it uses a darker green with more of a neon yellow, and I think this brand chose this logo because you associate green with the outdoors.

warm

This logo uses warm colors in an analogous style, they use warm reds and oranges to represent warmth. This logo uses the darker maroon to represent a shadow and the yellow orange to be the highlights.

This logo is different from the last, it still uses warm toned colors, although they are used in a gradient demo a warm red to a yellow orange. This again is used to represent warmth.

cool

This logo includes the cool toned colors purple and green. The green represents a more natural feel, and a company wants to consumers to believe their products are natural.

The FedEx ground logo also uses the cool toned colors purple and green, I believe they would chose these colors because they represent a feeling of peace and calmness, and they want you to trust their services.

monochromatic

This logo is monochromatic and adds a tint towards the right to represent light, there is also shade at the bottom left to add dimension and bring it to life. I feel they chose this logo because it is calming and feels full.

The type logo is monochromatic because it shows a gradient from a lighter blue with a tint at the top, to a shaded darker blue at the bottom. I feel Skype chose to go with this logo because it is supposed to represent a cloud, and the shading truly makes it feel three dimensional.

complementary

The Firefox logo represents a complementary color scheme because it is and orange red and blue. I believe they chose this logo because the warm orange represents the fire, and it is a search engine so the blue globe seems logical.
The Krispy Kreme logo is complementary because it uses red and green. I believe they would of chose these colors because red is often used in food, and is thought to make people hungry.

triad color

The Burger King logo represents a triad color scheme because it uses red, yellow, and blue. I think they chose this because the large red font again makes people think of food.

The Dole logo also uses the triad colors, red, yellow and blue. I think they decided to do this because the center of attention goes to the bright and neon yellow, which makes you think of a sun.

Web Project Final

Overview~ To be quite honest I was not looking forward to this final, but to my surprise I ended up enjoying this project more than I expected. I like how this isn't a typical final, and I really enjoyed being able to do this over an extended period of time, and being able to do it at my own pace. I liked the videos because I could go back to the parts I needed to review
What I learned~ I was so shocked as to how easy it is to create a website, and I thought this project sounded far more complicated than it was in reality. I loved working in Dream Weaver, it was easy to understand and I picked up on it rather quickly.
How I did~ By absolutely no means is this an extraordinary website, but I think I did really well considering this is the first time I have ever worked with anything like this. I am very proud of my work, and I also really enjoyed my color scheme. I feel like it is very cohesive and pleasant to the eye.
Conclusion~ Overall, this is one of my favorite e-Communication projects we have ever done. I am very much so looking forward to 4th quarter when we get to create another website, I definitely feel like this is something I excel at. Out of everything we have done so far, I think I am best at video, photography, and web design.

Chase Scene

In the preproduction phase of this assignment, there were more conflicts than the previous films we made. This time, we were limited to the amount of people in our group. I STRONGLY dislike being the one on camera, and through some hard convincing, I got another one of my team mates to be in this film. We came up with the idea of a game of tag, this idea came into my mind when i heard the word chase. I thought the idea of creating a chase scene that could somewhat seem suspenseful, but mostly keeping a childlike and playful aspect. I felt like this idea wad very creative and original, and no other groups had really come up with an idea like this, which I'm very proud of. We went and scouted locations which was very easy, I already had imagined it starting from the events entrance. Now that we had our story board, all we would have to do is film.

For the production phase, we ran into further conflicts. There was some sort of Christmas choir going on in the commons, where we had originally planned to film part of our chase scene. Although this wasn't that huge of a conflict, it definitely put a kink in our filming process. Other than that filming went smoothly, although our actress forgot to wear her same clothing for our second filming day. I was the recorder and director, like I said before we were limited to our participants.

As for postproduction, editing went very well. I love the skills E-Communications has given me, and maybe in the future I can take these skills and apply them to a youtube channel. Its always kind of been a dream of mine to have a beauty channel, but who knows! As for this project specifically, my favorite part was definitely directing and editing, I also feel these are my strong suits. I love getting to create my image, and editing is so relaxing for me. Cutting clips and finding music and everything just makes me really happy. If i were to do this project again I would try to film it all on the same day, just for continuity. I've really enjoyed video, and I think I'm going to miss it a lot.

Point A to B Transition

For this project we were assigned to have a person move from point A to point B, with obstacles in between. Through this we were supposed to create a small story, ours was a young lady being tardy to school but then realizing she has a test, so she rips up her tardy pass and leaves the building. We use long shots, medium shots, close ups, and over the shoulder shots to show this girls journey around the school. For this project I acted more so of a cameraman/ director although we all exchanged ideas and considered everyones input. I really enjoyed this project because I am far more experienced with Premiere Pro and since I was familiar with it, I had an easier time making my vision come to life. I also really enjoyed the music I chose and I feel like the parts and emotions in the music correspond with my video and I really enjoy that. If i were to do this again I would try to keep the lighting consistent, looking back on my film I notice that as I moved to different parts of the building the lighting varies. Overall I really enjoyed this project and I am very excited to do the chase scene!
