Web Project Final

Overview~ To be quite honest I was not looking forward to this final, but to my surprise I ended up enjoying this project more than I expected. I like how this isn't a typical final, and I really enjoyed being able to do this over an extended period of time, and being able to do it at my own pace. I liked the videos because I could go back to the parts I needed to review
What I learned~ I was so shocked as to how easy it is to create a website, and I thought this project sounded far more complicated than it was in reality. I loved working in Dream Weaver, it was easy to understand and I picked up on it rather quickly.
How I did~ By absolutely no means is this an extraordinary website, but I think I did really well considering this is the first time I have ever worked with anything like this. I am very proud of my work, and I also really enjoyed my color scheme. I feel like it is very cohesive and pleasant to the eye.
Conclusion~ Overall, this is one of my favorite e-Communication projects we have ever done. I am very much so looking forward to 4th quarter when we get to create another website, I definitely feel like this is something I excel at. Out of everything we have done so far, I think I am best at video, photography, and web design.

Chase Scene

In the preproduction phase of this assignment, there were more conflicts than the previous films we made. This time, we were limited to the amount of people in our group. I STRONGLY dislike being the one on camera, and through some hard convincing, I got another one of my team mates to be in this film. We came up with the idea of a game of tag, this idea came into my mind when i heard the word chase. I thought the idea of creating a chase scene that could somewhat seem suspenseful, but mostly keeping a childlike and playful aspect. I felt like this idea wad very creative and original, and no other groups had really come up with an idea like this, which I'm very proud of. We went and scouted locations which was very easy, I already had imagined it starting from the events entrance. Now that we had our story board, all we would have to do is film.

For the production phase, we ran into further conflicts. There was some sort of Christmas choir going on in the commons, where we had originally planned to film part of our chase scene. Although this wasn't that huge of a conflict, it definitely put a kink in our filming process. Other than that filming went smoothly, although our actress forgot to wear her same clothing for our second filming day. I was the recorder and director, like I said before we were limited to our participants.

As for postproduction, editing went very well. I love the skills E-Communications has given me, and maybe in the future I can take these skills and apply them to a youtube channel. Its always kind of been a dream of mine to have a beauty channel, but who knows! As for this project specifically, my favorite part was definitely directing and editing, I also feel these are my strong suits. I love getting to create my image, and editing is so relaxing for me. Cutting clips and finding music and everything just makes me really happy. If i were to do this project again I would try to film it all on the same day, just for continuity. I've really enjoyed video, and I think I'm going to miss it a lot.

Point A to B Transition

For this project we were assigned to have a person move from point A to point B, with obstacles in between. Through this we were supposed to create a small story, ours was a young lady being tardy to school but then realizing she has a test, so she rips up her tardy pass and leaves the building. We use long shots, medium shots, close ups, and over the shoulder shots to show this girls journey around the school. For this project I acted more so of a cameraman/ director although we all exchanged ideas and considered everyones input. I really enjoyed this project because I am far more experienced with Premiere Pro and since I was familiar with it, I had an easier time making my vision come to life. I also really enjoyed the music I chose and I feel like the parts and emotions in the music correspond with my video and I really enjoy that. If i were to do this again I would try to keep the lighting consistent, looking back on my film I notice that as I moved to different parts of the building the lighting varies. Overall I really enjoyed this project and I am very excited to do the chase scene!

How to Print a Document

What I really liked about this project was that we really got to have our own individual freedom on it. Even from the very beginning when we created our story board, it was so much fun getting to collaborate with my partners about shot sizes, angles, and just our overall ideas. Another reason i really liked this project was that when editing we had even more individual freedom on it, and i think thats when i personally really had to have fun with my creativity. It's amazing to me how different people can take the exact same footage and be able to put their own spin on it. I really enjoyed editing, i worked with premiere pro a bit last year for some yearbook projects so it wasn't very difficult for me to work on which i appreciated going into this project, and i also feel going in with background knowledge gave me a bit of an upper hand. In this project I played the director roll which I also really enjoyed because I got to help create the image I had in my head for it. If I were to do this again I would hope to have a bit more time to actually get my shots, we were on a time crunch and i feel like it was slightly obvious. I really liked my music choice and I feel i edited it to the best of my abilities. Overall I really liked this project.

Career Cruising

Career Cruising

After looking at my list of suggested jobs on Career Cruising, I was very pleased to see that many of these careers fell into the E-communication realm. My second career recommendation was an artist. I was also interested in being a special affects technician, an art director, or an art therapist. The job I felt most suited me was an art director. I liked this career because it is very broad and there are many different paths within this, you can work in video, or in magazines. To peruse this career I would focus on video and graphic design. I feel like I would most likely work for a magazine, but I still have time to work out the specifics. I would need to at least get a bachelors in graphic design, visual arts, new media, or photography. I think I would go through the graphic design route of things because it has always interested me. Ive bought about working for buzz feed in the past as well.

10 Words

For this sneak peak into animation, our assignment was to create a video of 10 words that described yourselves. At first it was difficult to come up with them for myself so I asked my family and friends. For my first word I chose extroverted. I chose this word because there have been many times in my life where I had to really put myself out there! Because of this I feel like I've inevitably became extroverted and can adapt to my surrounds and just be myself. For my second word I chose cheerleader, this is one of the more straight forward ones. I am a cheerleader here at northwest! For my third word I chose strong. I chose this word because I have had to overcome a lot of dark things in my life, and because of this I have become very strong and intolerant to the little things. For my fourth word I chose hungry, I know this is kind of silly but its true! I am never full. For my fifth word I chose over thinker, this word applies to me because I always second guess myself  in everything I do, and I frequently ask questions just to make sure I'm doing it right. For my sixth word I chose caring. I care about everyone, and I have a way with making even people that have done me wrong look good, because I am considerate in a very different way. I feel my disabled sister really contributed to this trait. My seventh word is clumsy because I always find a way to be a klutz and end up hurting myself! For my eighth word I decided to go with creative because I always have an idea and an envision for every project I do. For my ninth word I chose good. I know this one is pretty straight forward as well, but it applies to me. I don't lie to my mom, I'd rather be alone on Saturday night watching Netflix than going out and partying. Last and definitely not least, my tenth word was excitable because I am so fascinated my everything. If I were to do this again I think I would keep the general brightness and variation in fonts, but I would love to dabble in different types of animating, not just changing sizing and rotation.

SKETCH UP HOUSE

At first I didn't think I was going to like working with sketch up because I am very perticular about how I like things done. I can get very frustrated when I work with programs I am not comfortable with but surprisingly, by the end of this project I was very comfortable with it! I would not mind working with it again, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice. I would like to play around with it a little bit, but I really enjoyed creating the house overall. I learned how to make slight adjustments to make something more you're style. For example, I moved the window placement on the garage because felt it looked a little out of place in the picture. I also made the stabilizing beam by the front door. If I were to do this again I would focus more-so on getting accurate measurements.
